DVD-Video Authoring

During my time at Dennis Publishing, I have learnt how to construct DVD-videos for playback on consumer DVD-players and computer DVD-ROM drives. This involves encoding the movies into a format for DVD-videos and constructing menus that allows easy access to these videos.

I obtain the video on a miniDV tape format and encode it (turn it into digital form) using Final Cut Pro on a G5 Mac with OS X. I then edit it using the same software and export it to MPEG-2 format using Compressor. The menus are designed using Adobe Photoshop. The menus and video are then linked together as appropriate and compiled using DVD Studio Pro. Previously I used Adobe Premiere and DVD Conductor to encode and compile.
