Adobe Premiere - the package of choice for video manipulators. In conjunction with a video card, can capture, edit and produce movies for web and DVDs! My experience involved using this application to capture videos to edit and export for the DVD-video discs for the Dennis Publishing magazines.
Adobe After Effects - used to create transition effects such as fade in/out, cut and more. Great for creating logo front ends or professional transitions between scenes for DVDs.
